Allium cernuum - Nodding Onion
This is a listing for a pack of 100 seeds.This is a bulbous plant coming from the USA, extending north into Canada. It has a tuft of leaves that are produced each spring, which then die back as the flower stem is produced. The flowers are borne on a stem that bends over with the weight of the flower head giving rise to the common name, these are pink or occasionally white. It has several other common names including Nodding Pink Onion and Lady's Leek. The bulb is edible, but has a very strong flavour.
Tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions (except shade), this species is suitable for Zones 2 - 10. Ideally suited for a wildlife or wildflower garden, this plant is extremely attractive to both butterflies and birds. Ideal for providing early season colour in any garden. Where content it will generally self seed, so as to establish itself further. Can be propagated further either from the seed (which is freely produce) or from division of the bulbs.
