Amomum subulatum - Black Cardamon - 10 Fresh Seeds

Amomum subulatum - Black Cardamon

This listing is for 10 seeds of this ginger relative from South East Asia.

Closely related to the ginger and grown as a spice (seed pods rather than roots), this is an easy to grow plant that makes a wonderful house plant or container plant for the frost free patio or conservatory. All parts of the plant have a delicious spicy scent, best enjoyed on warm evenings. It flowers low on the plant, the flowers being scented and followed by large seed pods, initially green but eventually turning dark brown (and almost black when dried as a spice). The pods and seeds are an important sweet spice in many South East Asian dishes, with a slightly heavier flavour than the related (and more expensive) green cardamon.

It is hardy in Zones 9 to 11, so it can only really be tried outside in only sheltered, frost free locations.

Full growing instructions can be found in my shop, the link to this on my Me page.
