This is a native of Western Australia, being found mainly on limestone cliffs in the coastal areas. Called the Chenille Honey Myrtle due to the resemblance of the flowers to the chenille material (French for caterpillar).

It will grow to be a shrub or straggly tree about 0.5 - 5 metres tall with a similar spread. It produces a profusion of white (sometimes flushed with pink) flowers in spring and summer. Hardy to Zone 9 and tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, including salt laden air, making it ideal as a subject for coastal gardens. It will withstand light frost, but may develop a purple tinge on the leaves if the exposure is for any length of time.
