Packet of 5 seeds.

A dwarf member of the Coral Tree family, for use where the larger members cannot be utilised. Growing just a few metres tall when fully grown with a similar spread. They retain the very showy spikes of red flowers that produce copious nectar making them extremely attractive to wildlife when grown outdoors. Like most Coral Trees, this one also has prickles on the reverse of it's leaves.

From a distance the plants look almost like red-hot pokers (Kniphofia) and it is only when the leaves are spotted that the illusion is shattered.

Hardy to Zone 9, if planted in a sheltered location (protect from all frost when young), otherwise use as a spectacular house/conservatory plant. Where frost occurs, it is deciduous and often cut down to ground level - but it regrow's from the root-stock the following year. Would also do well planted out in a greenhouse border. Eminently suitable for use a bonsai specimen, due to its naturally low growing habit.
