Echinacea tenesseensis - Tennessee Cone Flower
This is a listing for a pack of 30 seeds.As its name suggests, this coneflower species, is endemic to the state of Tennessee. It grows to around 90 cm tall and is a perennial that spreads by means of its rhizomatous roots, a feature common to many USA temperate perennial herbs. The flowers are typical for that of the group, with a cone shaped flower caused as the petals reflex away from the centre. The rose carmine coloured petals in this species are not as reflexed as in other species.
Tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, this species is suitable for Zones 3 - 9. Ideally suited for a wildlife or wildflower garden, this plant is extremely attractive to both butterflies and birds. It will also add charm to a cottage garden planting with the cone like flowers nodding gently in any breeze.
