Giant Naboom - Euphorbia candelabrum - Fresh Seeds         DESCRIPTION Euphorbia candelabrum - Giant Naboom

You are bidding for a packet of 5 seeds of this giant of the East African dry scrub land.

Another of the giant tree-like Euphorbias, this species is very closely allied to Euphorbia ingens. It is possible that as the species spread variations occurred such that botanists described the sperate species. There are enough differences in the stem and thorns to consider this species a distinct one. A very easy plant from seed.

Hardy in Zone 11 only, this is a relatively fast growing plant for the first years of its life, mine are already over 5 feet tall and only the tallest has started to branch. New growth has non-persistent leaves, these dropping as the stem elongates and all are dropped in the dry season The flowers are fairly insignificant and they are followed (female flowers) by a seed capsule containing just three seeds. The flowers of both sexes produce nectar in sufficient quantities to support colonies of nearby bees, however, any honey from such colonies should not be consumed as the honey appear to take on some of the toxic nature of the plants dangerous sap, causing a burning sensation in the mouth that is only made worse if flushed with water. The dispersal mechanism is like that of most Euphorbia's, explosive, and for that reason the seeds are never easy to come by.
Growing Instructions
I always sell seeds that I have experience of growing so the instructions provided represent 1st hand experience. These instructions may change over the course of time (as I find out more about the plants and seeds) but the details that you will be provided with, at purchase, represent the latest version. If you have any questions concerning the culture requirements of this or any other item I am selling please contact me:
I will be happy to provide extra details you require. Bidding on more than 1 item? I will always combine shipping wherever this is possible and all auctions finishing within a SEVEN day period will qualify.  If I have not sent an invoice, please e-mail me for a combined invoice when you have finished bidding/buying, doing this will almost certainly save you money.  Due to the varying weights of the seeds it is not possible to apply a standard discount without overcharging for the majority of cases.  Additionally I cannot apply a postal discount unless PayPal payments are combined.
