Gladiolus venustus - Dwarf Gladiola

Gladiolus venustus - Dwarf Gladiola

Availability: 2 available

Pack of 5 seeds of this fairly hardy bulbous plant.

Found on mainly acidic soils in South Africa, this has a fairly localised distribution in the Cape Region. This has narrow sword like leaves and grows up to 35 cm tall.

Five to eight heavily scented bi-coloured (pink/yellow) flowers are borne on short flexible spikes. It flowers in late winter/early spring in habitat and for this reason probably needs over-head protection if grown in Northern hemisphere temperate regions..

Easy from seed, it can be sown at most times of the year, but in the Northern Hemisphere, a late summer sowing under glass will yield the best results. As with all Gladioli, it will produce numerous offsets when the corms are mature. These can be used to further increase your stock.
