Gilia capitata - Globe Gilia THIS IS A LISTING FOR A PACK OF 1 GRAM OF SEEDS (APPROX 1800 SEEDS).Gilia capitata is a species of flowering plant in the phlox familyknown by the common names bluehead gilia, blue field gilia, and globegilia. It is native to much of western North America from Alaska tonorthern Mexico, and it can be found on the eastern side of thecontinent as an introduced species. It grows in many habitats,especially in sandy or rocky soils.This wildflower is somewhat variable in appearance, with branching,leafy stems reaching anywhere from 10 to 90 centimeters in maximumheight and sometimes having glandular hairs on the fleshy herbage. Theleaves are divided into toothed or lobed leaflets. Atop the branchesof the thick stem are spherical inflorescences of 50 to 100 smallflowers. Each flower has a throat opening into a spreading corollawhich may be white, pink, lavender, or light blue. The stamensprotrude slightly from the flower's mouth and are white with white,blue, or pink anthers.Tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions, this species issuitable for Zones 3 - 9. Ideally suited for a wildlife or wildflowergarden, this plant is extremely attractive to both butterflies andbirds.
