Packet of 5 seeds of this hardy bulbous plant.
Found in the Cape Region of limestone outcrops, this is a vigorous Gladiolus species. The plants grow to 40 cm tall and the corms multiply quite readily. As is typical with this genus, the leaves are sword like and in this species up to 18 mm across.
Three to seven un-scented pale salmon flowers are borne on horizontal spikes, the individual flowers have a darker stripe on the mid-rib of the petals. It flowers in late winter/early spring in habitat and for this reason probably needs over-head protection if grown in Northern hemisphere temperate regions..
Easy from seed, it can be sown at most times of the year, but in the Northern Hemisphere, a late summer sowing under glass will yield the best results. As with all Gladioli, it will produce numerous offsets when the corms are mature. These can be used to further increase your stock.
