Archontophoenix cunninghamiana - Bangalow Palm

Pack of 10 seeds.

A medium sized palm from Queensland, this is more hardy than its relation the Alexandra Palm, but it is less resistant to weather damage as it has larger fronds. It flowers in spring, producing the flower stalks from well below the crown of leaves, as is the case with all of the palms in this genus. The flowers are white and are followed by clusters of fruit containing the seeds.Growing ordinarily to 25 metres or so, with a spread of 3 - 3.5 metres, this is a fairly fast growing palm. Eminently suitable for pot culture, this will slow down the growth rate somewhat and limit the eventual size of the palm. Unusually for a palm, they like a lot of water, perhaps because in the wild they are often found by the side of watercourses and in other poorly drained locations.

Hardy to Zone 10, this is suitable for pot culture in most locations and can be grown outside in the warmer weather. Also suitable as a houseplant, provide it receives enough water to keep it growing happily. Suitable for most soil types, even poor ones, provided the correct amount of moisture can be provided.
