Ilex paraguariensis - Yerba maté

This is a listing for 10 seeds.Yerba mate, also spelled Erva mate (Spanish: yerba mate, Portuguese: erva-mate), Ilex paraguariensis, is a species of holly (family Aquifoliaceae) native to subtropical South America in northeastern Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil.
The yerba mate plant is a shrub or small tree growing up to 15 meters tall. The leaves are evergreen, 7–11 cm long and 3–5.5 cm wide, with a serrated margin. The flowers are small, greenish-white, with four petals. The fruit is a red drupe 4–6 mm in diameter. The leaves contain caffeine and related compounds, and are harvested commercially.

The dried leaves are the source of Mate tea, a commercially available caffeine containing beverage.

Full growing instructions can be downloaded from my shop, details on my 'ME' page.

Please read the listing thoroughly so that you understand what it is you will be purchasing.  If you have questions, please ask them before purchase as this is the time any queries, ambiguities or simple misunderstandings can be readily resolved.  You may download the instruction sheets at any time by following the links from my about 'ME' page (shown after my username at the top of any listing).
Allseeds sold are fresh and are stored in conditions suitable to promotethe viability of that particular type of seed.
Germinatingseeds and growing plants are subject to many other factorsincluding the conditions under which they are raised (including but notlimited to: Light, moisture, soil, humidity) and the skill of theindividual grower.  As the vendor, such  factors are completelyoutside of my control and all seeds and plants are supplied on thisbasis. The seed count forms an important part of the listing.  All counts are exact, the only exception being where the seed is small and difficult to count accurately - in this case the count should be taken to be the minimum we will provide.
