Pack of 5 seeds.

This is a medium sized Aloe, which is generally found growing on rocky outcrops and cliffs (Afrikaans 'Krantz' = Cliff). It grows to around 2 metres tall and has a loose rosette atop a relatively thin stem. Sometimes multi-branching, but more often single stemmed (or branching at or below ground level to give a single stemmed appearance). It has many variations both in overall size and the colour of the flowers, indeed for a while most of these variations were grouped together as a separate variable species A mutablis (= variable), but now all agree these are variants of A arborescens.Flowering occurs in summer, although in the Northern hemisphere this may happen towards the latter half of the summer and into the autumn as is the case with many Aloes. The flowers are borne on tall (1 metre or more) unbranched spikes and are either red or yellow in colour, depending on the population and location. The flowers may be followed by seed pods where pollination has occurred. In habitat the flowers are the favourites of sunbird's as they are attracted by the copious nectar.

The plant may flower in 5 years from seed in it's natural state, but in the far better conditions it will find in cultivation, this is likely to happen much more quickly. Despite its natural habitat, is not reliably hardy so should be grown in a pot or pan and brought in during cold weather or grown as a greenhouse specimen or as a houseplant.

thank-you for the seeds, I have (so far) got a 27.666% germination, which I am told by an 'expert' is fantastic, they felt that a 5% germination was exceptional, really pleased with the service and the seeds.
