Salvia farinacea - Mealy Sage

This is a listing for 100 seeds of this free flowering, easy to grow tender perennial.

Salvia farinacea is known as the Mealy Sage due to the powdery coating on the otherwise shiny leaves. It is grown as an annual in most locations as it originates from southern Texas and Mexico. Like most sage varieties it has aromatic leaves which give off scent when merely brushed. The small blue flowers are carried in spikes throughout the summer. It grows up to 1 metre tall with a spread of around 75 cm.

To grow as an annual it requires an early sowing planting out after all risk of frost has passed. In this respect it is treated like a bedding plant. Only reliably hardy in Zones 9 - 11, this can be overwintered if grown in pots and kept cool but frost free over the winter months.
