Sequoia sempervirens - Coast Redwood
This is a listing for 10 seeds.Sequoia sempervirens is the sole living species of the genus Sequoia in the cypress family Cupressaceae. Common names include coast redwood, California redwood, and giant redwood. It is an evergreen, long-lived, monoecious tree living 1200–1800 years or more. This species includes the tallest trees on Earth, reaching up to 379 feet (115.52 m) in height and up to 26 feet (7.9 m) diameter at breast height. Before commercial logging and clearing began by the 1850s, this massive tree occurred naturally in an estimated 2,100,000 acres (8,500 km2) along much of coastal California (excluding southern California where rainfall is not abundant enough) and the southwestern corner of coastal Oregon within the United States.
Sequoia sempervirens is an evergreen tree growing to 110 m by 20 m at a fast rate.
It is hardy to zone 8 and is frost tender. It is in flower from Feb to April, and the seeds ripen in October. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant) and are pollinated by wind.
It can be grown almost anywhere and also used as a bonsai specimen.

All seeds sold are fresh and are stored in conditions suitable to promote the viability of that particular type of seed.
Germinating seeds and growing plants are subject to many other factors including the conditions under which they are raised (including but not limited to: Light, moisture, soil, humidity) and the skill of the individual grower. As the vendor, such factors are completely outside of my control and all seeds and plants are supplied on this basis. The seed count forms an important part of the listing. All counts are exact, the only exception being where the seed is small and difficult to count accurately - in this case the count should be taken to be the minimum we will provide.
