Taxodium mucronatum - Montezuma Cypress
This is a listing for 10 seeds.Taxodium mucronatum, also known as Montezuma Cypress, Sabino, or Ahuehuete is a species of Taxodium native to much of Mexico (south to the highlands of southern Mexico), and also the Rio Grande Valley in southernmost Texas, USA as well as Huehuetenango Department in Guatemala. Ahuehuete is derived from the Nahuatl name for the tree, ?hu?hu?tl, which means "upright drum in water" or "old man of the water." It is the national tree of Mexico and has been used in an ornamental setting since the time of the Aztecs who lined processional avenues with the trees.
It is a large evergreen or semi-evergreen tree growing to 40 m (130 ft) tall and with a trunk of 1–3 m (3.3–9.8 ft) diameter. The leaves are spirally arranged but twisted at the base to lie in two horizontal ranks, 1–2 cm (0.39–0.79 in) long and 1–2 mm (0.039–0.079 in) broad. The cones are ovoid, 1.5–2.5 cm (0.59–0.98 in) long and 1–2 cm (0.39–0.79 in) broad. Unlike Bald Cypress and Pond Cypress, Montezuma Cypress rarely produces cypress knees from the roots.
It can be grown almost anywhere and also used as a bonsai specimen.

All seeds sold are fresh and are stored in conditions suitable to promote the viability of that particular type of seed.
Germinating seeds and growing plants are subject to many other factors including the conditions under which they are raised (including but not limited to: Light, moisture, soil, humidity) and the skill of the individual grower. As the vendor, such factors are completely outside of my control and all seeds and plants are supplied on this basis. The seed count forms an important part of the listing. All counts are exact, the only exception being where the seed is small and difficult to count accurately - in this case the count should be taken to be the minimum we will provide.
