Pack of 5 seeds.
This is a medium sized Aloe found over a variety of habitats and at varying elevations (from 1000' to 5500'). Consequently it is a quite a variable species due to the conditions found at these widely differing localities. Those from the lower elevations are clustering, with lush foliage and brightly coloured (coral pink) flowers, whereas those from the higher altitudes have sparser growth and more washed out almost inconspicuous flowers. Despite it's name, the leaves are more spotted and barred than they are striped, in many respects looking a lot like the more common (in cultivation) Soap Aloe.Flowering occurs in summer, although in the Northern hemisphere this may happen towards the latter half of the summer and into the autumn as is the case with many Aloes. The flowers are borne on tall (1 metre or more) branching spikes and are generally pink in colour. The flowers may be followed by seed pods where pollination has occurred .
The plant may flower in 5 years from seed in it's natural state, but in the far better conditions it will find in cultivation, this is likely to happen much more quickly. Despite its natural habitat, is not reliably hardy so should be grown in a pot or pan and brought in during cold weather or grown as a greenhouse specimen or as a houseplant.
